The heart of the storm lies in an attic room, where a young lad with an electric guitar first stirred the air.
What began as a gentle breeze has grown into the roaring thunder now known as Badminton. An alt-rock/garage band with a cheeky nod to the ‘90s.
Somewhere around his twenties, front man Luca de la Haye found the perfect formula to bring his musical story to the stage. It all started with a colleague from his first side job; a quiet bloke who spills his soul through his drum kit. Later, in a local pub, Luca stumbled upon another character; a laid-back guitar nerd with a killer gear collection and a knack for making noise. All that was missing was one final piece; a badass chick on bass to add a proper dose of punch and puss. Luca, Stein, Chiquinho and Lotte lustfully blew Badminton to life.
Within a year, the band had muscled its way into the Dutch alternative scene on pure grit and charm. The four loudmouths translate the inner chaos of adolescence into rock songs that stick around in your head long after the amps cool down. With flashes of absurdism, their lyrics explore falling in and out of love, nagging doubt and growing up even when you’d rather not.
Badminton is a guilty-pleasure coming-of-age film for the young and the young of spirit.
