Make Waves was founded in 2021 in Amsterdam by two brothers to provide a better, more artist friendly and fair solution for self-released artists around the world.
Our founders have years of experience in building music platforms, artist management and music distribution; and they just really got tired of artists having to use the other platforms out there (like Tunecore, Distrokid, CDBaby, United Masters).
Being transparent about our accounting and having the best royalty accounting system out there that pays out every cent received is what artists deserve and have been missing out on for too long. The founders of Make Waves have a history in creating royalty accounting software for record labels and know how to get this right.
Why we started Make Waves
We never thought we would launch a DIY distributor but here we are. After working in the music industry for 15 years, we saw so many self released artists having to deal with a lot of bad workflows, not getting answers to their emails and having to deal with unnecessary costs whilst just trying to get their music out. We felt we had to create a better alternative.
